Clinical Decision Support for Cardiovascular Care
The Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) needed to make complex chest pain algorithms accessible and actionable for clinicians. Multiple decision pathways, risk assessments, and testing protocols needed to be consolidated into a single, intuitive tool that physicians could use at the point of care.
Biochromatic developed an interactive HTML/JavaScript tool that guides clinicians through evidence-based chest pain assessment protocols. The tool integrates multiple algorithms into one cohesive interface, helping physicians determine patient risk levels (low, intermediate, high) and recommend appropriate diagnostic testing.
The tool presents complex clinical guidelines in a step-by-step, decision-tree format that matches real-world clinical workflows, making evidence-based medicine more accessible during patient encounters.
The interactive tool has been integrated into JACC's official guidelines and is used by cardiologists and emergency physicians worldwide. By simplifying complex algorithms into an intuitive interface, the tool helps clinicians make evidence-based decisions quickly, improving patient care and outcomes.
The success of this project demonstrates how thoughtful interaction design can make complex medical guidelines more accessible and actionable in clinical practice.
