Basic replication rate (Ro) or ‘R naught’ expresses the overall virulence of an infectious agent in a specific location/population. This number is comparatively calculated with the number of new cases versus the number of existing infections. If the Ro is >1, an infectious agent is likely to cause significant outbreak or epidemic within a community or location. If Ro is less <1, significant outbreak is less likely. World wide, SARS-COV-2 has an established Ro of 2-3, which can be mitigated by social distancing measures.

  • Rt value

Effective replicaiton rate (Rt) expresses the number of secondary infections that are likely to occur from a single infection in a specific area. This number takes into account location size, local enforcement of social distancing, and ‘social mobility’ variables. If Rt is >1 or trending up, significant community spread of an infectious agent is occuring. If Rt is <1 or trending down, community spread is less probable or decreasing.

User Experience design (UX)

The Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI) meets annually for the AMI conference. During the conference, artists submit works of various types to the salon. The media range from physical books and physical 3D models to Digital interactive (web-based, VR, AR, and various game engines) and animations. To judge these topics a selections of jurors are assigned topics in their specialty. This prejudging app allows the judges to view the entries remotely and keep a calculation.

The User Experience(UX) and User interface (UI) was created with Adobe XD. The Progressive Web App(PWA) used a MERN stack minus the R. MongoDB Express and Node JS.

The liver performs thousands of essential physiological processes including the detoxification of chemicals, metabolism of nutrients, and secretion of bile.  Anatomically, the liver consists of lobules that have an intricate network of blood vessels and bile ducts running adjacent to them.  Blood from the gastrointestinal organs flows through a central venous sinus and permeates through the endothelium to the functional cells of the liver, namely hepatocytes and Kupfer cells, before entering the systemic circulation.

This illustration depicts the complex cellular anatomy of a liver lobule in a proprietary chimeric human/animal tissue culture.  A 3D model was used to show how the living cell culture emulates the functionality of a real human liver in in vitro biomedical and pharmacological studies, thereby delivering an in vivo result without animal or human testing.
